Pipesnapper Procedure for Ratchet Locking Pipe Alignment Clamp:

Initial Set-Up

  1. Retract gap pins until flush with clamp body.

  2. Squeeze the clamp head onto a straight section of corresponding pipe with mild

    pressure.

  3. Adjust the eight (8) hardened grippers until they contact the pipe evenly (be sure

to hold the clamp handle square to the pipe).

  4. Squeeze the vice grip clamp handle and push the thumb release to remove the clamp.

  5. Position the clamp head on the end of the pipe so the four (4) hardened grippers

contact the pipe near the bevel edges.

  6. Adjust the four (4) gap pins until the points are protruding slightly inside the pipe

diameter or until the desired weld gap dimension is achieved.

  7. The clamp is ready to temporarily position the pipe joint connection for tack

    welds.

Operation

  1. Position the clamp head onto the pipe or fitting to be joined so all four (4) gap pins are contacting the bevel edge. Insert the second pipe or fitting until the bevel edge contacts the gap pins.

  2. Squeeze the vice grip clamp handle until mild pressure is achieved.

  3. The pipe or fitting may be rotated to achieve the proper orientation.

  4. Further squeeze the clamp handle to lock the orientation.

  5. Tack weld the pipe connection through the three (3) windows.

  6. Hold the vice grip clamp handle and press the thumb release lever to remove the

    clamp

  7. Proceed to the next weld joint.

Recommendations

Each Pipesnapper Ratchet Locking Pipe Alignment clamp is designed to temporarily position specific pipe sizes.

It may be necessary to adjust the clamp head hardened grippers to match the inherent out of roundness or oversized fitting tolerances.

It is recommended to lock the clamp head onto the fixed pipe member to be joined then to fine tune the gripper pressure contact to the second pipe member when joining materials with slightly different diameters.

The Pipesnapper Ratchet Locking Pipe Alignment clamping systems* are designed to temporarily position butt-weld style pipe connections for tack welds. It is not designed to support piping components.

*Be sure to use a secured lanyard attached to the alignment clamp to avoid injury.
